Visualisation Developer (Tableau)

Salary: £45 – £50k depending on experience
Location: Remote with occasional requirement to travel to London
Hours: Fulltime 35 hours per week (5 x 7 hours plus 1-hour unpaid break per day)
Reports to: Head of Data Visualisation

The key purpose of this role is to translate data into actionable information so that the NHS Trusts and other organisations we work with can make decisions that will improve patient care and workforce efficiency.  You will be collaborating with a team of data engineers, developers, clinical data analysts, clinicians and project managers.

The ideal candidate will be someone who can push Tableau’s capabilities to the limits and not just create out of the box visuals.  You will be a natural when it comes to understanding the underlying data and have the creative flair to help others see what the data says.

Responsibilities 

  • Work in partnership with 33N’s clinicians, data analysts, engineers and clients to translate data into actionable information
  • Design, build and maintain analytics tools, data preparation flows, visualisations and dashboards with a high attention to detail
  • Convert project analysis requirements into prep and visualisation requirement documentation applying relevant transformations and calculations to enable the required analysis
  • Iteratively design visualisations for initial concepts and prototypes that can be presented to clients for feedback
  • Solve data discrepancies and use data cleansing where necessary
  • Collaborate with data engineers and clinical data analysts to identify the most valuable data and the best way to collect and store data to get best analytical outcomes
  • Collaborate with wider team on shared aspects like data dictionaries, data modelling, data governance
  • Ensure what you develop is compliant with relevant information security and data management principles (NHS IG)
  • Produce clear and concise supporting documentation for everything you build
  • Create dashboard wireframes at the onset of a project and provide support for dashboard users once dashboards are in production
  • Be personable, flexible and a team player who is always 100% accountable for projects, tasks and issues assigned to you
  • Be willing to contribute and share experiences with the wider team, be open minded and willing to learn from them too.  Solve problems independently as they arise, but ask for help when you need it

Skills and Experience 

Essential 

  • 3+ years working with Tableau
  • 3+ years/highly competent in SQL data and language
  • Experience in data analysis, modelling, and reporting
  • Experience working with data visualisation software and services
  • Experience of ETL processes and data transformation using Tableau Prep, SQL or Alteryx
  • Experience of working with large and complex datasets
  • Ability to critically evaluate data and demonstrate strong skills in developing visualisations that make complexity simple and give information and insight which lead to action
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity
  • Strong communicator and team player capable of working with team members at all levels and from various disciplines, including client’s BI team
  • Ability to hold the big picture while still being able to get into the minutiae

Desirable

  • Tableau extensions
  • Experience with setting up, maintaining and optimising dashboards in Tableau Server
  • Experience with data warehouse and reporting technologies
  • Understanding of NHS Information Governance, GDPR and how these influence data structure and security
  • Experienced with NHS data / data structures / clinical code
  • Experience of working with clinicians
  • Know your way around Jira
